Ciel Inc. and Hwacheon-gun on February 5, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for social engagement MOD development.

Through the MOU, Ciel Inc. and Hwacheon-gun agreed to cooperate to expand the base of smart shuttle bus and SOC.

Both organizations decided to jointly invest in ‘Smart Safe Shuttle bus’. Ciel Inc is in charge of MOD system development while Hwacheon-gun is responsible for the operation of the service. Particularly Ciel Inc. decided to develop sever, operation system and distribute exclusive passenger app free of charge.

Unlike regular-route bus, ‘Smart Safe Shuttlebus’ is applied with MOD system that flexibly operates routes according to the demand. Earlier, Ciel Inc. has pushed rural type MOD bus business ahead. Since last year, Ciel Inc. has been conducting R&D for MOD bus, in addition, there will be pilot service in coming March.

Park Mu-Youl, CEO of Ciel Inc. said “We expect the further improve convenience of transportation for students in areas in which a lack of transportation.

Ciel Inc. is operating a demand-based bus service 'I-MOD' in Incheon Metropolitan City as one of the smart city challenge project, promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

In addition, Ciel expands its business area to autonomous mobility service by providing the AMOD(Autonomous Mobility On Demand) flatform to ‘Majung’ service, autonomous shuttle bus at night, currently in service in Siheung-si, Gyeonggi-do.
